Project Description
Strengthening the digital capacity of municipal administrations
Town hall offline: Services unavailable until further notice – These or similar headlines have frequently appeared in the press in recent years. Municipal administrations have been repeatedly affected by cyber attacks, from classic ransomware to phishing and DDoS attacks. Municipal IT networks appear to be particularly at risk due to the shortage of IT specialists and other resources.
The project REDIKOM – Resilience of Digital Municipalities in Times of Crisis, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research from 2024 to 2027, aims to strengthen the digital resilience of municipal administrations. As part of REDIKOM, a forensic, structural and procedural analysis is being carried out in order to reduce the existing deficit in quantitative and qualitative (incident) data, develop tried-and-tested recommendations for action and derive a playbook from this.
Further information can be found in the press statement (in German).
