Security in Public Transportation

Project Description

In the two-year project “Safety Management and Emergency Response System for Underground Systems" (SenSE4Metro) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the safety of people in underground systems was increased by new technical and organisational measures.

The starting point was a culture-comparative approach, with which the behaviour of large crowds of people is investigated on a region-specific basis. Together with the Fraunhofer EMI, the Berlin Fire Department, ITC Engineering and renowned Indian partners, BIGS has made a particular contribution to this project, especially with regard to the cultural dependence of the behavior of rescue workers.
