For quite some time BIGS is analyzing the security industry and its contribution for the protection of society. By doing so we developed an understanding how to conceptionalyze security as an economic good, defined the security industry and measured its size, growth, and economic activity. In this paper BIGS’ executive director Tim Stuchtey and former senior research fellow Chase Gummer give a brief overview of the results.
