As a central element in society’s handling of risks and for the management of crises, the topic of risk communication is not only becoming increasingly relevant in Germany, but is also being called for as a constitutive element of a new risk culture. While the communication of risks is already common practice in some government departments and is part of government action – for example in health and consumer protection – risk communication is hardly developed in many other areas, especially since implementation as government practice is also associated with challenges.
