The Internet Identifiers as a Factor of Regional and Global Security

13. October 2023 @ 12:15 - 14:00

The provision of the “Internet” as a decentralized infrastructure for almost all areas of life in our society is a regulatory issue that has not yet been adequately resolved. This is accompanied by numerous security and privacy problems, which Internet users have to circumvent largely on their own. Even the numerous attempts at regulation have done little to change this.

Michael Yakushev of the Institute for the Development of Public Digital Networks (IEDN) has been working on the very fundamental organizational and governance issues of the Internet for many years. In his talk, he will outline the importance of IP addresses, especially from a security perspective. You are cordially invited to attend this presentation on October 13, which will be held in English. The PizzaSeminar will take place at IABG’s office in Berlin-Mitte and via Zoom.

About the speaker:

Michael Yakushev is an expert on international law and global Internet Governance. He was a member of G8 Okinawa Digital Opportunities Task Force (2000-2001), the Working Group on Internet Governance under UN Secretary General (2004-2005) and Council of Europe Working Group on Cross-Border Internet Issues. Between 2014 and 2017  he was the Vice President of ICANN on Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Since 2022  he is the Scientific Advisor of IEDN (based in Berlin).
