Nadine Nagel

Nadine Nagel is an industrial engineer and worked in various positions at IBM for over 15 years after completing her studies in Dresden and St. Petersburg. Most recently, as CISO and member of the management board, she headed the security division of an IBM subsidiary for the modernization and operation of the non-military IT infrastructure of the German Armed Forces.

From 2017 to 2019, Nadine Nagel was a member of the management board of a medium-sized European technology company, where she was responsible for information security and communication technology services.

Most recently, she moved from business to public administration and headed the “Cybersecurity for Business and Society" department at the Federal Office for Information Security. In this position, she was responsible for the supervision of the cyber security of critical infrastructures in Germany and the development of digital consumer protection, among other things.

Nadine Nagel is currently on the board of eurobits e. V., a competence center for the promotion of cooperation and transfer between business and science in the field of information security. She is involved in various advisory boards of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft on security topics. Nadine Nagel has conducted research on digital security at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society and most recently on software supply chains in the context of cyber diplomacy at the Stiftung Neue Verantwortung.

Her research focuses on the impact of digitalization on society, corporate digital responsibility, cybersecurity governance & regulation and security economics.

Since November 2023, Nadine Nagel is a Visiting Fellow at BIGS.
