Kai Beerlink

Kai Beerlink has been a Research Fellow at BIGS since August 2026. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations and Regional Studies from the University of Tartu in Estonia and a bachelor’s degree in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Bonn.Before joining BIGS, he gained experience at the German Council on Foreign Relations, the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, the industry association Bitkom and a security agency, among others. He is currently also a NextGen Fellow at the NATO Defense College.

His research interests focus on the impact of emerging technologies on security policy, hybrid threats, foresight methods, OSINT, and strategic thinking. Kai Beerlink worked as Junior Research Fellow at BIGS from June 2024 to July 2025 and was primarily responsible for the Power2Rescue project.
