Dan Spacie
Dan Spacie has been a non-resident Fellow at BIGS since December 2020. Dan supports BIGS on topics involving geoeconomic and national security implications of technology and innovation. In previous roles as a strategy and technology advisor in the UK Ministry of Defence, he helped senior leadership to define & adopt an effective Strategy for Artificial Intelligence and to set long-term research & development priorities in the 2020 Science and Technology Strategy, and provided consultancy-style assessments of emerging technologies. Dan’s research interests focus on the role of technology in great power (military) competition, and relevant analytical approaches like net assessment. He was awarded a Master’s degree in International Studies (Security) from the University of Birmingham in 2007.
