Project Description

Starting in summer 2022, the BIGS has been working together with the Candid Foundation (publisher of the journal zenith, among others), a think-and-do tank with a regional focus on the Orient and the MENA region, and the IABG on a research project focusing on fake news detection on social media using the example of Twitter. The project, with the acronym Alfarabi, which was commissioned by the Universität der Bundeswehr in Munich, aims to investigate disinformation that is reproduced on Twitter using quantitative and qualitative methods. The two selected case studies focus on Afghanistan and Lebanon respectively.
